I Want To Get Out Of Floor Nursing

My plan is to get a job at a caribbean resort and sit in a little cabana all day on a sunny beach and save people from drowning.

I want to get out of floor nursing.

Residents coming onto the floor are fresh out of med school and honestly depend on experienced nurses to be their double check at times nursing being the last line of protection to the patients. It truly takes that long to feel confident in what you do maybe even longer. As such most legal nursing consultants have a lot of bedside nursing experience already under their belt. Nursing isn t really what i thought it would be.

That s my safety net in case this whole rn thing doesn t work out. Nursing is declining as a profession and no one respects us. I feel your pain my friend. We don t have techs on our floor or cna s and we get up to 6 patients at once.

Though i didn t want to get out of med surg till i was 4 years into it. Making the leap to a new field may require some additional training but the good news is that some of your past credits may transfer. 9 jobs for nurses who want to get out of nursing entirely. Unless we band together and take a stand things will only go south as hospital move to improve reimbursements thru hotel like treatment.

I honestly don t have any plans of getting out of nursing. Is the nursing profession no longer a good fit for you. If so then go back to school to pursue further training for a higher degree. I agree with the previous poster that you may want to ride it out and see if things get better after 1 year or so.

Atleast on my floor it just feels like a constant drug exchange patients expecting dilaudid and morphine on the dot when it s due and every patient is due at the same time. Pts come to the hospital to get better not to be treated like they re at the hilton. If the nurses are new and the prescribers are new it can spell disaster for people in the beds. For example you may find out you absolutely love doing operations management rather than clinical practice.
