Installing 4x8 Plywood Underlayment Over Sub Floor

Use wood filler to repair any uneven areas. Osb exposed during construction must be allowed to dry especially before installing sensitive finish materials such as hardwood flooring. Underlayment covers subfloor flaws for the best possible results. Always store floor panels under cover.

Lay the panels out flat to cover the subflooring. Do not use any adhesive beneath sureply plywood underlayment. Select the smooth side of the plywood to be facing up. Moisture content in the subfloor should be low before installing underlayment.

Thoroughly scrape sweep and vacuum the entire surface and strip any wax from the existing vinyl. Positioning sureply premium plywood underlayment. The underlayment must rest flat over the entire floor. Plywood underlayment is typically needed when a floor material must have a very smooth flat surface.

There are different reasons why people decide installing new plywood from replacing a bad sub floor to raising it to be higher stronger. Apply an adhesive approved for plywood installation and recommended by the plywood manufacturer. In some cases a vapor barrier should be used between the subfloor and the underlayment particularly for first floor applications when using particle board underlayment over a subfloor other than exterior grade plywood. Score the back of the panels half of the thickness on a 12 inch by 12 inch grid.

Sized in 4 by 8 foot sheets you can install a floor underlayment to wood. For example if you install resilient tiles or sheet flooring over a subfloor any bumps dips or voids in the subfloor may be evident in the finished flooring.
