When installing new laminate flooring in your home you may have to work around the existing baseboard.
Any wood will work but chunks of 1 2 in.
Scrap plywood are ideal.

Laminate flooring is ready to install as long as the base floor is clean and smooth.
The problem this causes is when you go to install the baseboard on the new wood flooring the baseboard may not sit flat on the floor.
It is easier to install baseboards after laminate flooring is put down.
After removing the existing flooring baseboards and quarter moulding check that the subfloor is solid flat and clean.
Cut the blocks and tuck them into the gap every few feet.
If you took up carpet and installed laminate or hardwood flooring you may not have noticed this before as the carpet hid the gaps.
